eEnviPer - "A single multi-purpose SOA platform that delivers environmental permissions services through the cloud of e-Government services and applications"

 The eEnviPer project aims to test an existing single multi-purpose cloud platform based on Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) for providing software as a service in five different European countries. The project will demonstrate the benefits of SOA and cloud architecture by integrating complementary existing systems that support environment-related permit procedures and provide digital services for permitting authorities at different levels, enterprises, consulting services and civil society (either individual citizens or special interest groups such as NGOs).

ENORASIS - "ENvironmental Optimization of IRrigAtion Management with the Combined uSe and Integration of High PrecisIon Satellite Data, Advanced Modeling, Process Control and Business Innovation"

The overall aim of ENORASIS is to develop an intelligent, integrated Decision Support System (ENORASIS Service Platform and Components) for environmentally optimized and, thus, sustainable irrigation management by farmers and water management organizations.

NaTouR - "A complete approach for the joint management of natural resources in the cross-border Area aiming at the promotion of ecotourism and the protection of ecosystems"

The project aims to create the appropriate innovative tools to promote ecotourism in ecologically sensitive areas sharing the common characteristics and the exchange of know-how between the stakeholders, so as to seize the opportunity of promoting ecotourism and in the same time preserving the natural resources of the area.

AeroVis - "Urban clusters impact on regional Air pollution and climate and generic visualisation software for satellite data applications"

The main themes of this project are 1. the development and implementation of a generic satellite data visualization software for visualization of air pollution and climatic data 2. the study of air pollution and climate over China using long timeseries of satellite observations, with emphasis on the impact of rapidly expanding urban centers on regional air quality and climate, a political and economic theme of huge im-portance for China.

PEOPLE project aims to speed up the uptake of smart cities through the rapid implementation, deployment and take-up of innovative internet-based services to allow developed cities to tackle their main current challenges and future ones concerning quality of life. This will be enabled by designing and implementing user-driven open innovation methodologies and processes.

Research projects

  • GEOKLIMA - "Design and Development of a climate G.I.S." (2011)

    The project “Geoclimate” aims at developing an integrated Geographic Information System which will have the potential for management, analysis, modelling and visualization of the information that is related directly or indirectly with the climate of Greece, the factors that determine its time evolution from the past to present as well as the projections in the near future.

  • EDHE - "Hellenic Network of Solar Energy” (2011)

    The project  aimed to design and develop an integrated system for real time monitoring of the available solar potential in Greece, to produce detailed solar energy maps and to predict solar energy in short term periods. 

  • CASSANDRA - "A multivariate platform for assessing the impact of strategic decisions in electrical power systems" (2012)

     Project CASSANDRA aims to build a platform for the realistic modeling of the energy market stakeholders, also involving small-scale consumers. CASSANDRA will not provide another tool for visualization. Rather, it will provide users with the ability to test and benchmark working scenarios that can affect system operation and company/environmental policies at different levels of abstraction, starting from a basic level (single consumer) and shifting up to large consumer areas (i.e. a city).
